This week’s Saturday Share is centered around my favorite focus – encouragement. Although I’m a writer I’m not so much of a reader. This is why I understand when people don’t read my blog posts. Give me a powerful message of encouragement and motivation in a song or video and it takes root in my soul.
I asked my 17 year old what videos she goes to for encouragement and she said Julian Smith, Jimmy Fallon and tv shows like The Voice. We are all so different and what we find encouraging is different as well. While I might need a swift kick in the behind she goes for something that makes her laugh. I love this!
Encouragement : something that makes someone more determined, hopeful, or confident. (Merriam Webster)
Determined. Hopeful. Confident. YES!! Give me some of that!! Here are a few of my favorite “go to” encouraging videos.
Brené Brown’s Ted Talk – The Power of Vulnerability
Brené Brown’s Ted Talk – Listening to Shame
Nicole Johnson – The Invisible Woman
Priscilla Shirer – Begin the Battle on Your Knees
And this one… this post intended to encourage wouldn’t be complete without it.
Where do you turn for encouragement? Do you have a favorite scripture, song, video, sermon? Share it with us in the comments or over on the EPFH Facebook page if that’s easier for you. We can ALWAYS use more encouragement!
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25
Be sure to check out the Encouragement tab in the menu above for a host of encouraging and motivating scriptures. You can also type “encouragement” in the search box and find all posts here on the blog that could be of encouragement to you.
