These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I’m linking up today with a host of bloggers and we’re all sharing a few of our favorite things. You’re going to want to check them out. The link is at the bottom of this post. Our world today is kind of a mess. Maria attempt to distract the Von Trapp children from the awful storm outside by offering some happy distractions, I hope that by my sharing a few of my favorite things, you will find a small bit of solace from all the crazy out there.

If you don’t already have the earworm, allow me to help you out. You’re welcome.

I do love me some daffodils and green meadows but I’m also loving these things a lot right now.

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner

My cousin, Alicia, put me on to this conditioner about 10 years ago.  I buy the big bottle and have a travel size container that I refill. I’ve found that wherever I go, the shampoo is typically sufficient but conditioner is always subpar. My hair needs a good conditioner. This stuff is a miracle, just as its name says. Thanks, cuz.

Favorite Things

teapigs.
Oh my…. This tea is amazing! teapigs. are new find for me in the UK but they’re also available in the US. I love them all. Earl Grey Strong, Jasmine Pearls, Honeybush and Roobios, and Sweet Ginger are a few of my go to’s, but my absolute favorite is the Apple & Cinnamon with a small spoonful of vanilla bean sugar in it. It’s like a dessert. Also, I love their website. It’s very cleverly done.

Pacsafe Bags
When we took our first trip to Italy in 2012, a well-traveled friend recommended we get Pacsafe backpacks so we did. Italy is known for pick pockets and bag thievery and we are super OCD about keeping our passports, etc. safe when we’re traveling. These bags are slash proof and have zippers that lock and latches to hook them to a table leg or chair. We have a backpack, I have two camera bags, a metro backpack and a wallet that fits my passport inside of an RFIDsafe slot for those hackers who like to scan things without permission. They are functional but many of them are fashionable as well. I love the teal and cranberry colors! Yes, this product line is pricey but they are extremely durable and I would venture to say that they will not need replacing. That being said, as I looked up the links for this post, I discovered a few other styles that I might need. Shhh… don’t tell my husband. I’ve purchased mine from Amazon UK and Amazon US.

My new books.
I haven’ read these yet but I have no doubt that they will be some of my favorites. I typically have to order digital books due to living overseas but with a trip home to Texas and the timing coinciding with the release of some most excellent reads, I stocked up on real, actual books. I can hold them in my hand, highlight and underline ‘til my heart’s content.

A Passion for the Impossible, Miriam Rockness – The Life of Lilias Trotter
Love Lives Here, Maria Goff – Finding What You Need in a World Telling You What You Want
Still Waiting, Ann Swindell – Hope for When God Doesn’t Give You What You Want
Never Unfriended, Lisa-Jo Baker – The Secret to Finding & Keeping Lasting Friendships

I am also enjoying a digital copy of my cyber friend’s memoir. Jennie will soon be my IRL friend once we meet in Paris this month. I got into this book on the plane trip from England to Texas and was actually a bit frustrated when I had to close it out to get off the plane.

Stars Upside Down

Stars Upside Down, Jennie Goutet – A memoir of travel, grief, and an incandescent God

There is a personal element for me in each one of these books. I am blown away at the relationships and connections I’ve made with fellow writers. I am constantly inspired by them and their willingness to share their hearts with others. Wo knows, one day, maybe someone will add one of my books to their favorites list. I suppose I’ll need to write one first.

Owen
No favorite’s list would be complete without my grandson. I know that when we have more grandchildren, they will all be my favorite and a post like this will need to be longer but for now, he’s my only and he’s most definitely a favorite. I never imagined that love could be so grand. This boy has my heart.

  1. Books will always end up on my favorite things lists. I purchased Never Unfriended and have two others of yours on my wish list. 😊

    • Which two? To be honest, books have not been my favorite until these last couple of years. I’ve always struggled with reading and still do but I give myself permission to take it at my own speed. I’m a processor and ponderer. I can read books quickly. But I have no problem buying them quickly. 🙂

  2. The pictures of Owen never fail to make me smile! Several of your books are on my own reading list. And the tea? New to me, but I need to look it up. You always share new things with me. You make my world so much bigger! Thanks for linking up!
