Community is Crucial for Surviving Motherhood

Previously shared on TheCourage.com.

My children have grown and have flown but today I’m pausing to reminisce a little. Okay, truthfully, I reminisce a lot these days, but today I’m choosing to share my reflections with you.

I look back through the combined 68 years of being a mom to our three kids and think of all of the people who have helped and loved on us along the way. There are many!

Me: I did this to you. Jesus: I did this FOR you!

When our youngest daughter, Anna, was about 4, her forehead made unfortunate contact with the pedal on her older brother’s bicycle. I can’t remember how that happened exactly and honestly am struggling to visualize it but it happened nonetheless. It left a gaping wound on the left side of my beautiful baby’s forehead and as you can imagine, blood streamed down her face at record speed.

The Story Isn’t Over Yet: Celebrating Life & EPFH’s 1 Year Blogiversary!!

It’s been a year of setbacks and growth, a year of failures and successes, a year of trials and triumphs, a year of joys and sorrows, a year of emptying and filling, love and “war”, new friendship and old… but my most favorite is that it’s been a year of stories. Because stories represent hearts and both are meant to be shared.

Saturday Share 2.13.16 #LINKUP {Focus: Words With Friends}

Yeah, I’ve missed a few weeks on this Saturday Share business. God has had other plans for my weekends and I’m okay with that. I love doing this post each week but I’m also all about that grace and I hope you are too. This week I’m choosing to share with you the good words that some of my blogging friends have been posting this week. Grab your coffee and prepare to be blessed.

Get In My Car and Let’s Find Hope Together

I’ve seen this video, Hope in Front of Me by Danny Gokey, before but for some reason it touched me in a new way when I watched it just now. Hope has carried me through some junk. Hope continues to carry me through some junk. I’m a firm believer in hope. Hope has kept me alive. Hope has kept me fighting. I could not survive without hope. None of us can.

Ask for help. Be the help. – Guest Post by Kristin Burke

I’m thrilled to share this piece with you from my cyber friend, Kristin, from The Lackadaisical Mom. She is a gifted writer and her blog is awesome. Be sure to check it out. We’re in a writing group together and have interacted on that forum. I’m always so honored (and slightly amazed) when someone trusts me enough to share their heart words in my space. She mentioned to me that this is a message that is important to her and she wanted as many heart eyes to see it as possible. Of course, I’m happy to share. That’s what EPFH is all about!

100th Post!!! A Reflection of Smiles

On March 4, 2015, this blog was officially birthed. I’m not sure I smiled out of fear of being vulnerable but I’m quite sure God smiled. And He has continued to smile over us here at EPFH throughout the last 99 posts. This is post 100. Wow! Immeasurable blessings!

That Time I Went To A Party In Jen Hatmaker’s Backyard

goldenticketlaunchpartyI’ve mentioned here before that I was blessed to be on the launch team for Jen Hatmaker’s latest book, For the Love: Fighting for Grace in a World of Impossible Standards. One day, someone on the team threw out the “what if we had a party to celebrate the launch and what if we had it at Jen’s house” idea. And Jen said (not her exact words), “Sure!! Come on over, all 500 of you. Why not?? We’ll get food and margaritas and ice tea and chat for a few hours in my back yard. Oh and we’ll take lots of selfies!” And the party planning began.
