Bridging Transitions – Part Seven {In Loss}

Bridging Transitions  – Part Seven {In Loss}

By Georgette Beck

What is transition? Merriam-Webster defines transition as a “passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another” and as it relates to music; “a musical passage leading from one section of a piece to another.”

No one is exempt from experiencing transition. Growth occurs from a transition in all realms of our life. We progress through mental and physical development as we pass through the various stages of our lives.  We transition from losses suffered and from blessings gained. Transition in and of itself is not meant to be a bad experience. The transition is a necessary component of what comes next.

10,000 Days of Together

10,000 Days of Together

My husband, Tommy, and I began our forever life together 10,000 days ago. We stood before God and man professing our love and vowing to do all the things young love tells you that you can. We were not prepared. No one told us how hard it would be or if they did we didn’t listen. Young love rarely listens. That may be a good thing.

Your Best Story Happened 10 Minutes Ago: Weird But Good!

My school lunch making days are numbered. Our “baby” is a junior in high school which means she will be a senior next year which means she’ll be flying the coup like tomorrow. Bittersweet at its finest folks. Making lunches for our three children has always been important to me. I know it’s not a priority for everyone and that’s okay, but it is for me. I used to make them all a good breakfast too but my Anna stopped me from that when she started liking sleep more than food.

Borrowed Words – The Magic Thread

In cleaning up my computer files recently I ran across this story that I’d saved years ago. I can’t remember why I saved it but apparently I liked it then and I still like it now. I’m still pondering this fresh start that 2016 has brought me. Peter’s story reminds me to be careful to not rush through and wish my days away, not even the hard ones or not so fun ones. I should like to savor the moments and the memories of each day. “I should like to live my life again as if for the first time…”

A Life Lesson in a Cheese Grater

A Life Lesson in a Cheese Grater

So we got to our little cabin in the woods on Sunday to bring in our 28th year of marriage. We made taco soup for dinner and began looking for a cheese grater. We’ve been on this search in cabins before. Apparently cheese graters aren’t used by everyone so they’re not commonly stocked in places we go. We dug around looking and looking. There was no cheese grater to be found.

Saturday Share #LinkUp 11.14.15 (November Adoption Month Focus)

November is National Adoption Month. In this link up, all posts are welcome but I thought I’d use my space here to promote adoption awareness. Adoption happens to be one of my favorite things. People who adopt or defend the orphan happen to be some of my favorite people.

Marriage Stories – Down To The Studs, A Guest Post by Brianna George
Marriage can be both ridiculously wonderful and ridiculously hard. My husband and I will be married for 27 years this month. Our oldest daughter and her husband also got married in November and just celebrated their 2nd anniversary. I have asked a few friends to share their hearts with us during the month of November on the topic of marriage. I’m so honored that they have agreed to empty their hearts so our hearts can be filled. I pray my friend, Brianna George’s, words flow straight from her heart to yours. This post was originally shared on her beautiful site, Unveiled and Revealed. Be sure to go read more of her heart there.

100th Post!!! A Reflection of Smiles

On March 4, 2015, this blog was officially birthed. I’m not sure I smiled out of fear of being vulnerable but I’m quite sure God smiled. And He has continued to smile over us here at EPFH throughout the last 99 posts. This is post 100. Wow! Immeasurable blessings!

I’m Praying Psalm 3 With Your Name In It

I’m Praying Psalm 3 With Your Name In It

I believe in the power of prayer. I believe that prayer works and I couldn’t be convinced otherwise. I know several people who are praying for me right now. Either because I asked them to or just because they’re good to me like that. They are praying over me to have hope, to have peace, to sustain, to allow God to continue writing my story. I am praying for them too.
